Size
The Joovy Kooper X2 is a double stroller that is side-by-side and can accommodate two children of up to 50 lbs each. The seats are bigger than other lightweight double strollers and the canopy is fitted with large SPF 50 sunshades with windows that peek out. Other features that are important include one-parent cup holders and a large, self-standing bin that can hold up to 25 pounds; swing-away bars for kids to get out and in their seats; and the front wheels that swivel lock to make it easier to maneuver on difficult terrain. This is a great option for suburban and urban families. It also comes with the double kit which includes a newborn wedgie that allows for the perfect lie-flat position.
Weight
The weight of a double buggy is among the most important factors that determine the ease to push. A lighter buggy is simpler to lift and carry but might not have enough suspension to withstand bumps and uneven terrain.

Most double buggies come with an upper limit on the weight of each seat, and some have overall frame limits and it's important to check the details of each model before you buy. Some double buggies are able to be folded with seats removed, making them lighter and smaller. This is useful in cases where you have limited storage space.
The tri-fold doubles are typically the lightest of models since only one hand is required to lift the front and back sections. They are also smaller than side by side buggies and can be accessed through the majority of doorways. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest trifold doubles on the market and can comfortably accommodate twins or a baby and toddler.
Tandem buggies are great for families with growing children since they begin as a single stroller but can be adapted to accommodate a second seat such as a car seat or carrycot. Some models, such as the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations, meaning they can adapt to your family until three children. They tend to weigh more than tri-fold doubles, however they're often easier to maneuver across kerbs due to the weight being evenly distributed.
Folding
The best double buggies for small children fold up in seconds. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature because it lets them to fit the buggies in the back of their cars and free up storage space when they are not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up over each seat and the entire thing folds down. Even our oldest testers were able to fold this tri-fold in just one hand.
The lightweight Delta Children LX side by side is another excellent option for double buggies. Its lightness is a plus but also the features it comes with large pop-out canopy which include SPF 50 protection and a windows that peek out at you and swing-away bars that help youngsters get in and out of their seats; and reclining chairs and leg rests designed for young children.
Manoeuvrability
When choosing a small double stroll, it's important to think about its maneuverability. This includes how easy it is for both children to ride in the buggy. Some pushchairs, for instance the iCandy Orange with its 'cinema seating' (where the back seat is elevated) are better than others.
This is where narrow tandem buggies and side-by-side designs can be useful. However, they can be a bit longer overall, and therefore could be difficult to maneuver through doorways.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2 is an excellent example of this as it's a relatively small pushchair that allows two seats to be added as well as - importantly - an 'piggyback'-style board that can accommodate a third child.
Other smaller, three-wheeled models, like the phil&teds Dot are also incredibly agile. This is particularly evident with its innovative "dot kit" which transforms it into an inline buggie. It has two different seating arrangements for children of various age groups and the front seat can be turned so that it faces parents to provide a more intimate bonding experience. It has an enormous storage basket that is easy to fold. This is a great solution for growing families.
Comfort
Parents can keep both children in sight at the park, grocery store or wherever else using narrow tandem buggies or side-byside buggies. These lightweight doubles are able to hold two children, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds each. They also come with a pop-out canopy that can be extended far enough to give shade. They also have convenient cup holders that can be reversible and placed on the seatback. They also have an individual cup holder for parents and a large underseat basket.
If you're beginning with an expanding family, consider adding the phil&teds double kit your dot buggy, transforming it into an inline double, ideal for toddlers and infants alike. The clever 3-wheel design makes for easy kerb popping and superior maneuverability, and the sling seat provides a great option for newborns to bond with their parents. You can easily swap out the seat with an infant car adapter when your children get older. You're ready to go on your next adventure with a luxurious travel bag and rain cover included!
